A nice week

Last weekend when we stayed in De Hoge Rielen playing games, eating and drinking in a cottage in the forest and having a general nice time. Oh there was also a 'walk in ze forest' of course.

I learned not only how to play a few new games, but also that it is better not to play Halli-Galli against some people who are ... , well, I can only call them semi-pros.

Later I got an email that I could pick up my new car sooner then expected. The next day that I would be at the Design Clinic at Cisco Live 2011 in London for the "Application Optimization" part of the Clinic. I'm looking forward to meeting our customers and partners face-to-face. And to some interesting problems of course :).

Given articles like this I'm very happy that I managed to get the system to allow me to travel by train to London and not by plane.

So all in all a very nice week indeed...

Mmm, a brand-new E-class? Nice!

Do share how it's like, please - in another 10 years I might be able to afford a W212 instead of the current W210 ;)

It's all due to the magic tax loophole of 'the company car' in Belgium.

Just note that I have a 'Belgian' E200, meaning that the engine is limited to 100 kW output (~ 136 HP), for tax-reasons.

It's very nice indeed so far, smooth engine, lots of power in low revs, extremely confortable. Let's see how it performs over the next few months.

136hp for, what, 1.5 tons, 1.8? That does sound a bit underpowered.

Yes that is underpowered, but as most company cars have the same limit it is not so bad. Only if we go to the 'unlimited speed' country to the east I just have align with the trucks :).

To give you an idea: I could select between a C220 (base, naked), the E200 (base but with quite a few options), or a C200 Avantgarde with again a few options. That '20' extra is pretty expensive.
