Trip to Denmark
Jun. 14th, 2004 12:25 amSo we just returned from our trip to Denmark.
Sat 5-6-2004 The trip there was pretty uneventful, except we sort-of got lost in Germany. Michelin gives a correct road "turn onto the A1" but no the direction "in the direction of Bremen". While mappy does give the names as they appear on the signs. But mappy's route was 50km longer. The stops in Germany improved a lot since the last time I used them, especially for the children there were a lot of facilities.
Sun 6-6-2004 We went to visit Hjemsted Oldtidspark which was nice but I suspect that in the summer there are more animations. The museum was nice, but it was difficult to impress Clara who grew up in a place where the streets still follow the plan of the original Greek colony and you are surrounded by roman theaters, aqueducts etc to be impressed by "we found there discolored piece of ground from which we can say where the poles where in the house". :-). Matteo liked it anyway. Then we went to Rømø, which is a nice island where you have to drive you car on the beach, because is it at least a kilometer wide!
Mon 7-6-2004 We went to legoland. Lots of fun. The nice thing was that the family-restaurant provided a buffet with "raw" ingredients, so we could even let Matteo eat. Not easy to feed a child with a combined milk-soy-egg allergy, but we could.
Tue 8-6-2004 Went to visit the Ribe Viking Centre which was a lot of fun, especially for Matteo.
Wed 9-6-2004 Visited the Esbjerg Fisheries and Maritime Museum which is a nice museum but the restaurant is not so nice and inhabited by unfriendly staff.
Thu 10-6-2004 Went to visit Tambours Have a garden with tropical plants in the middle of Jutland. Then we went to the beach to do nothingness.
Fri 11-6-2004 Went round Ribe itself and the local Vikingmuseum.
Sat 12-6-2004 The trip back. 25 km of traffic jam, storms, flooded streets. Not nice.
All in all an enjoyable holiday.
