On free software and the ideal world
May. 6th, 2004 02:02 pmI voted to keep non-free. I also (maybe wrongly) voted for the "editorial" changes. I do not support the new reading of the social contract to mean that everything has be DFSG free, including documentation and firmware. I think being pragmatic is also needed, as Marco writes: a perfectly free distribution will not work on any real-world system.
I foresee a split in Debian into the even-harder-then-the-FSF camp and a pragmatic camp. Guess where I will stand?
