fysfes 2006
Oct. 4th, 2006 05:38 amLast weekend we went with friends to Poul, a part of Putscheid in Luxembourg for a weekend of play, boozing, BBQ'ing and chatting.
The drive there is quite long, but they have nice holiday houses with a large playing area in front. The kids were happy playing with each other and with the animals in the fields. In the afternoon we visited nearby Vianden castle and hydro power lake.
In the evening we had a BBQ with massive amounts of .lu meat, even more drink, light sticks for the kids and mad scientist experiments for the adults. The kids make 'circles of light' with the light sticks, the parents make low and high density plasma fields in a microwave, shoved 800W of microwave power into a 8W fluorescent tube without incidents and proved that nuking the light sticks makes them glow harder. Then we went on trying to make a FAE with available materials, but this failed somewhat. Some years earlier we got an impressive fireball, but not this time.
The event changed from a mad outing of students to a madder outing of parents-with-children without major incidents of losing the non-parental people with I find pretty impressive. I'm already waiting for next year :-)
