With the total disruption of air traffic these days I would say their got a nice victory.

Now that even baby bottles are a cause of concern I see the day coming that all passengers must go to the airport to strip naked (binary explosives hidden in clothes), undergo a bowel cleaning and have to vomit up their stomach contents (binary explosives in the digestive system) then are strapped to chairs and transported on the airplane (to avoid karate experts taking over the airplane).

Over lunch we agreed that would eliminate most security problems, except that a terrorist might have an implanted bomb. To offset that you would have to come a day early to the airport and fly at a random time in the next 2 days, while waiting in isolation, bomb-proof rooms.

So to avoid the slight risks of a bombed airliner people are going to run the bigger risk of a car trip, and to give up their rights and dignity. A clear victory I would say.

prevent all risk, at any cost

Your damn right.. it is madness. I'm quite cynical about all this (http://ragtag.wordpress.com/2006/08/10/war-on-terror-part-5-planes-attacked/). Probably not in the conspiracy camp but not far off.

Planes have been a target since they first flew and making us all suffer to basically continue the doomed war of terror, like that on drugs, is just gonna piss more people off, make everyone's day a hassle.

Our everyday freedoms are being eroded by the people that say they try to protect us.

It also seems very good timing as events in the middle east get even more out of hand - another 20 people actually did die in Iraq today - no plan, it really did happen.

In fact, if I was a terrorist why the hell go for a plane, it's a bloody nightmare. You have to wait in line, sit around the lobby, rush for your seat, the food is always bad, you never get enough "free" drink and there is the possibility of deep vein thrombosis. It's way too dangerous to blow up a plane. :o)

On September 14th 2001 I proposed a business venture to handle the new age of terrorism:

Bondage Airlines: body cavity searches and free handcuffs all part of the
service!
