So my alarm clock went off at 03:15 to prepare myself. At 05:00 my mother picked me up, I checked in for the flight to Madrid of 08:10 and off I went. At Madrid I had a quick bite (no food on the plane from Brussels) and then I met Isaac Clerencia, Jacobo Tarrio,Torsten Werner, Matthias Schmitz and Javier Fernández-Sanguino at the gate for the flight to Mexico.

The flight itself was endless, when I saw land I suspected we were close, but we still had 5 more hours (of 11) to do! I will keep a book in reserve to read on the flight back! There was a little girl of 4 of 5 that just kept going on but the rest of the passengers was almost dead. Javier got upgraded to business class with the 'laying flat as a bed' seats, the personal TV etc. He looked a little better at arrival at about 18:00 (we had to circle round for 20'). Then we met the rest of the Taxi-sharing people and went off to Oaxtepec. The thing I noticed was that there was no 'ear popping' while landing, this is because Mexico is at 3000m, while going to Oaxtepec we descended to about 1200m of altitude with ear-popping and all.

In the taxi we had interesting chats with Ana Guerrero López and Knut Yrvin mostly about diverse subjects like the raise and fall of the roman empire and the gnome interface guidelines (yes, we're clearly talking about geeks).

At arrival we showed that debian is rather democratic as we kept Mark Shuttleworth waiting in like behind us. The fact that is was 03:30 for us could also have a little to do with it :-). After finding the room I went out for dinner with Javier, Manoj Srivastava and his wife. The things she found uneatable I found rather spicy (but still eatable) Manoj found to have 'some taste'.

After a good night sleep I woke up at 7:00 local time, prepare and met Roland Mas while waiting for a local shop to open and to give me money. Together we went to the local market were we are some find of pita-like thing filled with cheese for me and chicken for us. It was rather nice, but 8:00 is too early to have breakfast over here...

We just had the official opening and I'll have lunch and then a swim I guess.

Now back to hacking!
