Elections and stuff
Nov. 2nd, 2004 11:37 pmNewsnight just started talking about the election in the USA. I must say that sometimes I don't understand why news programmes must cover things that are still up in the air: the final result wil not be known until early tomorrow morning here in Europe, so why talk about the possible actions to possible results?
In any case I was happy to see a lot of people went and voted, tho the feeling of urning people to vote is alien to me. Here voting is mandatory and the pleas are not to vote, but not to vote for extreme right parties, which is possibly a sadder state of affairs.
Related to this I've been enjoying two parodies from the "Mai dire" crew recently: "mortality" which is a big brother like show, but between two adjacent graves and their inhabitants. Even better is "L' intelligente" where a person with an iq of over 320 is placed in the parliament with as goal to remain undetected. Slogans like "we know one MP is intelligent, but which?" and "The test of the week was to vote to keep the budget while at the same time giving tax reductions to big enterprise. It was a challenge, but the intelligent one remained silent and the law was accepted". Hmm. here you can watch the video it seems. Oh, to test your Italian, try to understand Nives here. :-)
