I got invited to linkedin by a old boss of mine. While I was chatting to her I mentioned that normally I miss fabs, like I never got any orkut invite, even when other people where complaining of getting too many. I also got a gmail invite just before people where dumping them on online sites.

So the very next day she send me one. It seems really everybody-and-his-dog have been invited already. When I went on orkut I can even see former colleagues of mine. The fab factor shows in that the activity seems old for the most part.

I feel rather sad because of this. I know that in my job I've been isolated to some degree, but I would have tough some contacts would survive my lowering of activity on my debian and lisp stuff. Oh well, it seems not. On the other hand it does seem like a big timewaster. Maybe it is good to be isolated, altho I would appreciate having a few more contacts.

Bwa. For some reason I must say that I like potty-training my son a lot more then reading yet another debian-devel flamewar, so maybe I did the right choice.

Orkut is terrible. I signed on rather early and thought it might actually be a success where Friendster failed: dealing with growth. I figured that being sponsored in some capacity by Google would be a boon in that sense. It clearly didn't take. Plus the retarded Terms of Service, the fact that it's run on ASP, idiotic UI... i'd remove my account, but i might as well just let it sit there in case anyone wants to go looking for me.
